(PREVIEW) Progress on Campaign

So one of the main features of the full version of the Tactical Typing is a 33 level campaign. That's what I've been working on lately, and I would like to share some info about the Progress:

This, is how campaign menu will look like!

It's pretty simplistic and only has the most important parts. These parts are level name, level description, an image telling you what side of the campaign you're playing on, and of course options. It isn't very complex, but I mean, you won't be staying in this menu for very long time anyways.

It is split into three parts

The campaign is split into three parts:

  • PROLOGUE - a three level tutorial
  • UCSF Campaign - a fifteen level campaign, where you play as a moderator in UCSF
  • DM Campaign - also fifteen level campaign, but you play on a opposite side

Prologue aside, the differences between those parts are mostly visual and lore-related.

Inside the level

A level in the campaign, is basically normal, Human vs Computer session. The only differences are:

  • Dialogues at the beginning, victory, failure, and sometimes during the level. These diauloges are between players and usually contain: informations about the level/campaign progress/your progress/lore/their feelings/what you have to do, some jokes, and more.
  • Amount, color, level of intelligence, special abilities, and positioning of players. Those variables can create interesting scenarios, for example: one level you're fighting a 3v3 battle, and on the second one you're surrounded by 5 enemies from all sides!
  • Different ways of winning. It's pretty much self explanatory. While in the regular session of Tactical Typing, your main way of winning is elimination, campaign levels may have a different solutions rather that just simple extermination of your foes.
  • Gameplay twists. In some levels, interesting things might be happening, like random airstrikes, instant timeouts, and others.
  • Boss fights. In some levels, there might be a foe, that is a boss. Boss are way more powerful than a regular foe, and usually have some interesting characteristics, and ways of getting eliminated. Eliminating boss usually ends the level.
Dialogues

I mentioned previously what those are, so here are some pictures of them:

Further progress on the campaign

Although the campaign is done, I still have to polish it a little bit. There may be some typos, bugs, and unbeatable levels, so I still have to work on it. But errors aside, the campaign is finished.

Once I perfect the campaign, I'll move onto bonus challanges and local multiplayer. If you have any opinions, you can leave them in the comments below this post.
